Dear Brothers & Sisters,
Greetings from the Diaconate as we start off the fall! I hope that you enjoyed the brief respite from the heat and the rain of the last days of summer that came as we entered into autumn, the Season of Change.
Praise God for His Mercy!
Conversational English Classes: Our first ever Conversational English classes kicked off and praise God that several students braved the rain to attend. We also give praise and are thankful for the many people who have volunteered to teach or serve as teaching assistants.
Teen Tutoring and Mentoring Ministries: Along with the beginning of the school year, we are offering tutoring for several young men and women who live in the neighborhood and attend our church. They meet at a home off of Meridian Place NW a few blocks away from the Target/Best Buy on 14th Street in Columbia Heights. If you are interested in getting involved, please email us at email@example.com
The proceeds of this month's Mercy Offering will go directly into the Scholarship Fund: As we walk with several young men and women in our neighborhood, we desire to be able to support them should they seek to attend higher education and have set up a Scholarship Fund for this purpose. Already this Fund is being used to support a young lady as she attends Gordon College in Massachusetts and we will be playing a short video that she has recorded during our Worship Service this Sunday.
Furthermore, we are overjoyed to share that another young man from the neighborhood whom so many of you have supported through some difficult times is continuing to attend UDC, is taking 5 classes this semester and is doing well!
If you would like to contribute to this Scholarship Fund you can do so by giving to the special collection that we will take during Sunday Service. Also, you can also give by clicking on the "Give" tab on the church's website: Gracemeridianhill.org; or by using the Grace Meridian Hill Mobile app which is available for both iOS and Android at the Google Play Store. Be sure to click on "Mercy Fund" and specify "Scholarship Fund" in the comments field. (Give here!)
Need Help? Lastly, if you find that you are going through a time of need (whether materially, emotionally, spiritually, or relationally) we the Diaconate is here to support you. Please feel free to approach any one of us on Sunday or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
