From the Diaconate (September 2018):
We pray that your summer has been restful and joyful, and we are excited to launch into our new year in September – as we are having our official GMH “ministry launch” next Sunday, Sept. 9th! We will have more information to share on ways to serve, testimonies on how God is working within our community, and a family-style meal after church. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Reflecting on our church’s summer, we want to praise God for what he has done and is doing with the update below.
Praise God for His Mercy!
Summer Bible Club: SBC 2018 was such an encouraging and uplifting event! We had more children attend than any year before – having 11, 17, 21, and 19 children attend each of the four days – Praise God!! As Marcus shared, this time of being with children in our neighborhood and sharing the Gospel with them is mighty, for as God says in Isaiah 55.11:
“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
Thank you to all the volunteers who came out – helping with music, snacks, telling stories of the Gospel, playing games – and special thanks to Nana for being a superhero leader! Below are some pictures from SBC and from our Nationals outing on Saturday to celebrate the week:
Growing in the Grace of Giving...
ESL Ministry: We will be kicking off our first ever ESL Ministry with conversational English classes beginning this Fall! If you have a heart to serve immigrant populations though relationship building and dialogue – this is for you! No experience is needed to volunteer – a big focus will simply be coming out on Thursdays (7pm) to have conversations with our neighbors! Please contact the Diaconate (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like to serve!
School Starting Back Up...Teen Tutoring & Mentoring Ministries: Building off our SBC outreach, we are inviting teen/pre-teens from our church and from the neighborhood to a new youth club – GMH Club – from 10:15 – 10:50am on Sundays (during worship/announcements). This will be a space for this group to have fun, hear the Gospel, and engage with the sermon passage before sitting in the service and sermon.
In addition, this Fall, we are having tutoring for some of the young women that go to our church and one young man at Community College on Mondays and Wednesdays at our house. If you are interested in supporting either of these ministries, please contact us at email@example.com.
Need Help? Finally, if you find yourself in a season where you need help (material or otherwise), the diaconate is here to support you. Please always feel free to approach us on Sunday or email the Diaconate at any time.
Grace & peace to you all,
Walter, with the GMH Diaconate.
